New education coordinator for sustainable development
In 2021, a new position was established for an education coordinator focused on sustainable development at Lund University. The remit is to support the long-term goal for all students at all levels to learn about sustainable development, enabling them to bring their expertise into their professional lives.
The remit of the Sustainability Forum now also includes education issues. In collaboration with the Education Board and the Research Programmes Board, the Forum is to support the integration of sustainability aspects in study programmes at all levels, and to stimulate the development of new educational initiatives focused on sustainability. Terese Thoni has recently been appointed as education coordinator. Her duties will include:
-
To support the work of highlighting education on sustainable development: Lund University already has many courses on sustainable development and it is important for all potential students to know what educational opportunities are offered.
-
To participate in dialogues on education about and for sustainable development as a concept; one challenge is that sustainable development is such a broad concept, open to various interpretations. For a good overview of educational opportunities, we also need to create a common picture of what we mean by education about and for sustainable development.
-
To assist in communication about and support for university-wide sustainability courses.
-
Continuing professional development for postdocs in sustainable development.
